Taking Issue With Same-Sex Marriage

truthDear Friends for Life:    It was refreshing to run across an article “I’m Gay and I Oppose Same-Sex Marriage” by Doug Mainwaring. He writes that “Gay and lesbian activists seek to redefine marriage in order to achieve an ideological agenda that ultimately seeks to undefine families as nothing more than one of an array of equally desirable “social units,” and thus open the door to the increase of government’s role in our lives.

mediaGoing contary to political correctness and mass media, he believes that one can oppose same-sex marriage based on reason and experience. His story sheds a fresh view of one who considers himself as gay.

Another article of interest “Growing Up With Two Moms: The Untold Children’s View” portrays the tough road facing children of same-sex couples.

There is als an excellent documentary from Family Watch International which is a very helpful introduction to understanding male same-sex attraction. It argues that no one is “born gay” and that many people with unwanted same-sex attraction have been able to change. In 30 minutes, it packs in research data, interviews with top experts in the field, and powerful testimonials from four men who speak honestly, openly and compelling about what it was like for them to develop same-sex attraction and live the homosexual lifestyle.

solutionDaily political correctness and mass media show only a limited one-sided picture of the issue. Listening to men who suffer with same-sex attraction and their struggles in life present a completely opposite reality. A clear understanding of the current issue is important in order to show a deeper compassion to those who encounter this road in life.

However, we must also strongly stand on the side of traditional marriage and not allow courts and laws to weaken family structure which is the basis of who we are as a people, as a society, as a nation and a world community.

life treeDoug Mainwaring concludes with the following thought: “Marriage is not an elastic term. It is immutable. It offers the very best for children and society. We should not adulterate nor mutilate its definition, thereby denying its riches to current and future generations.”

God Bless

pope-francis2-255x160The Difference is LIFEA person once asked me, in a provocative manner, if I approved of homosexuality. I replied with another question: ‘Tell me: when God looks at a gay person, does he endorse the existence of this person with love, or reject and condemn this person?’ We must always consider the person.      – Pope Francis
